“70 Years of the Hague Convention: Learning from the Past and Present for the Future”

Join us online in marking the 70th anniversary of the 1954 Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict at the international DAAD Alumni Conference, hosted by BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, Chair of Architectural Conservation (Prof. Dr. Johanna Blokker), in cooperation with the International Association of World Heritage Professionals (IAWHP e.V.).

IAWHP e.V. members are warmly invited to join the online transmission of conference sessions featuring leading experts and alumni from Germany, Georgia, the UK, Palestine, Latvia, and other countries. The program presents latest research, real-world case studies, and innovative strategies for safeguarding cultural heritage in times of crisis. Highlights include in-depth discussions on current challenges in regions such as Palestine and Ukraine, along with interactive panels connecting theory and practice.

A special highlight of the event is “Heritage GradConnect 2025”, celebrating 25 years of BTU’s Master’s program in World Heritage Studies.
